They came in to see this Mercedes GLC Coupe and wanted to finance it. Once we ran the credit the approval came back with a high rate and a lot of money down, which made the payment way higher than they expected.

I told them the only realistic way to lower the payment was to look at a cheaper car, but they still wanted this one.

Was I wrong for suggesting a cheaper car, or should a salesman just try to get them approved for the car they want?
