The new federal scholarship tax credit, established as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, breaks new ground for educational choice. This $1,700 tax credit for taxpayers who contribute to a scholarship granting organization could raise tens of billions of dollars and fuel a massive expansion of school choice across the country. Between now and when it goes into effect, in January 2027, what will it take to deliver on that promise? What do donors, advocates, and policymakers need to do?
