You’ve probably been told somewhere along the line that the most important question to ask is, “what’s your interest rate?”
Sure, it’s a valid question!
However, there are many aspects which make up an interest rate that we as Mortgage Consultants won’t know until we’ve received your loan application, credit report, income and asset documentation. There are so many factors that play into your qualifying loan program, interest rate, and closing costs.
Here are 5 OTHER questions to ask a Mortgage Consultant before you complete a loan application:
1) What is your pre-approval process?
2) What are your hours? Are you available evenings and weekends, or have an assistant to help if not?
3) What types of loans do you offer?
4) How do you communicate to me during the loan process?
5) What’s your favorite pizza topping?
Ok, #5 may seem irrelevant but honestly, you are about to entrust this person with a lot of financial information and put a very big and important transaction in the hands of whomever you hire. Trust and rapport are so important.
Listen to what they are saying and how they are saying it. “Listen” to online reviews. Listen to your gut.
I’d love to chat with you about those 5 items and more to earn your trust to help you through one of the biggest financial decisions you will make in buying a home this year.
